How many lies exist in history? How much hate and murder has been justified by the existence of these historical falsehoods?

Sometimes centuries must pass before we know the truth. And often despite extensive research and investigation, the truth is never fully revealed.

For almost two millennia, people accused the Jewish people of killing the son of god and therefore being forever guilty of deicide. In fact, it was only a few years ago that the Christian world came to understand that Jesus was Jewish and was crucified by the Romans and not by the Jews.

In the year 2000, at the end of the second millennium, people accused, and still accuse, Israeli soldiers of killing a Palestinian child, Mohammed al-Dura.

Graphic images from a French Journalist working for France Television seemingly supported this story, and millions of people around the world watched in horror as the almost live murder of a Palestinian child was broadcasted throughout the world.

And if the images were not enough, explicit commentary from the journalist, Charles Enderlin, was there to remind us in a hasty assessment of images that he had not filmed, that the bullets emanated from Israeli positions.

Eight years have passed since the Mohammed al-Dura's affair. An affair that never would have existed if people had reacted in an appropriate manner and verified the images before broadcasting them to the world.

It must be said that when I handled news items during this period, I was so used to reviewing millions of anti-Israel news pieces and pictures, that I did not dare to doubt its authenticity. It was a conflict for the world. There were good guys and there were bad guys. We were the bad guys, at least we were portrayed as such in the politics of communication.

Recently, however I reviewed all the images from all the sources filmed on that day, and it appears clear to me that there was a manipulation and creation of events. In the uproar and the atmosphere of the events I did not have the clear sightedness and the foresight to realize that the events of that day may have been the largest machinations the world has ever seen.

Today there is no longer any doubt. And indeed the French courts have proven, thanks to Mr. Phillipe Karsenty, who in a struggle of one man against the state apparatus succeeded in revealing to the free, democratic world the truth eight years later.

The Palestinians of Hamas, the terrorists of Hizbullah and Al-Qaeda are masters at using the media and manipulating it with the only goal of influencing world opinion to serve their interests.

They are anti-democratic at their base and use the freedom of speech of democracies to play with our minds and our souls.

It is now essential and urgent that the President of the French Republic and the ministers in charge of culture and communication in France, finally shine a light upon the Mohammed Al-Dura affair.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said in front of Knesset three days ago that he was a true friend of Israel.

We therefore call upon our friend Nicolas Sarkozy to put in place as soon as possible a commission of inquiry with power to hear the truth, and only the truth on the matter of Mohammed Al-Dura.

We should not rely on the journalist or the cameraman, we must put our trust in the French authorities who are the employers of these people to put the truth on the table.

The debate is not about this journalist or that journalist, the subject is far broader and deeper than that.

It relates to the transmission of reality to all peoples, the reliability of information and the political and military impact that this information can create.

Let us not forget that when American journalist Daniel Pearl was cruelly murdered by Pakistani terrorists, the video was broadcasted with a loop of images of Mohammed Al-Dura and his father - the images, of course, where meant to explain the causal relationship between the Muhammed Al-Durrah and the terrorist's actions.

Mr. Sarkozy thank you for coming to Israel in friendship, your words were extremely warm and welcoming, and from me to you, if I may say so, never has a President of France expressed words like yours to the State of Israel and the Jewish people.

It is therefore as a friend that we ask of you Mr. President, to shine a light upon an affair that does not only concern the Jewish people and the State of Israel, but first and foremost, the people of France, the Republic of France and the international community.
